Viji Babu is graduated in Chemistry from University of Madras, Post Graduated in Environmental Studies from Sikkim Manipal University & holding a Diploma in Food Preservation Technology from Annamalai University. He also got M.B.A in General Management and achieved Cambridge Career Award – Advanced Level (Human Resource Management) from University of Cambridge, UK. He has been trained at the prestigious “Central Food Technological Research Institute” (CFTRI), Mysore, India in the fields of Snack Foods, Indian Breakfast Foods, Milling of Flour, Sensory Analysis of Aroma and Flavour of Food Ingredients, Food safety in food chain establishment (Microbiological Criteria) & Pest Control Management of Food Processing Industries.
He takes pride of having grown in 20 years of his overall career including successive 15 years of Food relevant industries in versatile areas of food processing, logistics, supply chain, QA, HACCP & ISO.
Proven as responsible Indian Representative and manages cordial relationship with international clients and promoted Indian Export globally. He has good understanding on labour intensive industrial environments (1000+ manpower) of Pappadum Industry. He is excellent in managing the Product and Process flow architecture of multi-site Manufacturing Units, Indian Vendor Development to EU standards. Developed Indian Food Industries (Pappadum Industries) in the areas of Food Quality / Safety / Legality / Ethical - Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety requirements of International Clients (BRC, TESCO, M&S) with required Managerial Skills of conceptual thinking and understanding the big picture of changing Indian Economic Policies on International Trade & Investments.
His current assignments also includes Directorship at JDS Food Products Pvt Ltd, Chennai, Manufacturer of Hand-made Sun-dried Pappadums. He heads the techno-commercial excellence aspects of the company to secure the Export Status. Under his Leadership JDS Foods has won the most prestigious British Business Group Award for ‘Most Innovative Indian SME supporting the UK’ for the year 2013-14.
Consultant Associate and Lead Auditor at NQA Certifications Pvt Ltd, UK & India as Food Safety Professional in training & auditing Indian Food Industries and been IRCA, UK approved FSMS Lead Auditor. In Yr.2008 during the 10th Anniversary celebration of NQA India Operations he received the Certificate of Excellence in Professional Auditing & Training Services in the areas of QMS, HACCP & FSMS.
He has set up & maintaining Food Safety Management (HACCP) System in line with ISO & Global Standards for Food Safety. He has previously handled permanent role/assignments in Implementation & Auditing Management Systems at OTCPL (A division of Patak’s Foods), Lanson Ventures, TPU’s of M/s. CavinKare Pvt Ltd and M/s. Subhiksha Retail Supermarket.
Actively participating in Food Safety presentations and sharing his view and expert opinion to the Food Community by writing series of 10 articles on FOOD SAFETY - Improving business bottom lines, published in “Quality World”, most prestigious scientific magazine in India.
